Save the Children Australia is a non-profit organisation that works towards providing children all over Australia and the world access to proper health care, education, and protection. It’s part of Save the Children International, which reaches over 40 million children in over 116 countries.
As a part of the fundraising effort, Save the children runs over 76 op shops in every Australian state and territory. The store sells the donated items it receives from generous givers. The op store also doubles up as drop-off points for donations. You can donate your clothes and other pre-loved items at their store. Use the locator above to find the nearest store.
Save the Children accepts items that are usable and in a working state. If you can give the items to your friends, family members or colleagues, chances are it’s a good fit for donation.

Items not acceptable for donation:
It’s a good idea to call ahead to check if the store is accepting donations before you drop them off. You can call the central helpline at 1800 76 00 11 or check with the local store for hours of operation and accepted items (use the locator above).
As all donations are received in-store, the donations are limited to the store’s opening hours. Each store has its own opening times, but generally, they are open from 9 AM to 4 PM on weekdays (Monday – Friday) and from 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays. Sunday is usually closed.
The donated items are sorted and placed in the store, where they are sold to raise funds. Items not fit for sale are recycled or donated to other charities.
About 80% of the profit from the op shop goes directly to Save the Children programs, with the rest being used to cover operational costs.
